Ramiz Brahimaj just delivered Austin Vanderford his first UFC loss.
Brahimaj faced off with Vanderford on the prelims of UFC 320 on Saturday in Las Vegas. Though both fighters were on two-fight win streaks heading into the event, Brahimaj was a considerable underdog to the former Bellator fighter, but he didn’t look it when the cage door closed.
Vanderford came out looking to use his trademark wrestling game, and did have some success early, but Brahimaj didn’t make it easy and in the second round,
he rocked Vanderford with a head kick at the end of a combination. In response, Vanderford shot in, starting a grappling exchanged where Brahimaj threatened with front chokes. Vanderford defended and the two scrambled for a bit before Brahimaj was able to lock in another guillotine and this time, Vanderford has no choice but to tap.
The win makes three in a row for Brahimaj, all by stoppage, and could well earn him his third consecutive Performance of the Night bonus as well.
