The first international break of the season is rapidly approaching as national teams around the world play World Cup Qualifiers and various friendlies starting next week, and one Barcelona player will finally get to play for his country again.
Denmark announced their list of 23 players for their World Cup Qualifiers at home to Scotland and away to Greece, and Barça’s Andreas Christensen is front and center in the announcement as he makes his return to the squad for the first time in 14 months.
The last time Christensen appeared for Denmark was in their 2-0 defeat to Germany in the Round of 16 of last summer’s Euros, and his nightmare 2024-25 season at Barça with various lower leg injuries cost him virtually the entire campaign, which also included every Denmark match.
Christensen made his season debut for Barça in the final 20 minutes of the win over Levante at the weekend and missed training the following day with what was described as “general discomfort”, but he is clearly healthy enough to be called up by his national team.
Now we pray he gets through his international commitments unscathed.
