Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has reportedly met with Manchester City officials this week to discuss the possibility of signing Erling Haaland.
A new report from Diario Sport claims that two members of Font’s team, Carles Planchart and Xavier Aguilar, were in the Spanish capital today to meet with CEO Ferran Soriano and sporting director Hugo Viana.
City have been in Madrid for their Champions League clash with Real, with Font using the game to meet and talk about Haaland.
Sport say that
“one of the objectives of the meeting was to secure a preferential purchase option for Haaland” in case the Norwegian decides to leave City in the future.
Haaland has committed his long-term future to the club, penning a contract until 2023, but has regularly been linked with a move to Barcelona.
Font has previously said Barca are capable of signing a No. 9 this summer, telling Mundo Deportivo last month: “If things are done right, Haaland or Julián Álvarez are possible.” He’s also said that Flick will be “blown away” by what he can offer him if he succeeds Joan Laporta.
The presidential candidate has also hinted recently he’s working on transfers, telling reporters: “The sporting directorate is extremely active these days, working in the transfer market, traveling, and meeting with clubs. We are very close to having things we can offer Hansi Flick.”
