Newcastle United have set a £75million valuation on Anthony Gordon as Bayern Munich step up their interest ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Martin Hardy of The Times.
The England international has emerged as one of the club’s most valuable assets following a strong individual season, and his future looks further than closer to Tyneside from the end of this season on.
With financial considerations expected to shape the Magpies’ approach to the transfer window, Newcastle are more open
than ever to offers for any of their players, stars or not, and they will sanction as many sales as possible as long as those buying meet their demands.
Interest in Gordon has been building across Europe, and now Bayern Munich seem to be the leader in the race for the England international.
The Bundesliga side has reportedly identified the 25-year-old as a key target as they look to strengthen their attacking options, and they currently value Gordon at around £60million, just a few short of the Magpies’ asking price.
While there has been no formal club-to-club contact yet, the gap between the two valuations is not considered insurmountable and it’s believed Bayern has already contacted the player personally to try and convince him to set camp in Bavaria.
Gordon, obviously, is also interested in—while not forcing it—a move come summertime, with discussions expected to progress as the window approaches.
As things stand, AG looks to be on the outside of Newcastle’s plans looking in and the biggest name already set to depart during the summer transfer window.
