Dušan Vlahović, who is currently a free agent, is looking for a new team. And the team he really, truly wants to join is FC Barcelona. According to the latest rumors, the Serbian striker is willing to wait a little longer to see if Barça make a move or not, but he won’t wait much longer.
That’s because Beşiktaş have made an offer for two seasons, reportedly for a nice bit of money. Vlahović is willing to lower his salary demands for Barcelona, too, which would give the Catalans an advantage if they
were to make a move.
Contact between the club and the forward’s agent has reportedly been made, but beyond some preliminary talks, nothing solid has emerged. The original demands from the ex-Juventus striker were for a two year contract with an 8 million euro net salary per year, plus a signing bonus and comissions for his entourage.
Barça didn’t bite, but now Vlahović has reportedly sent a message that he is willing to lower his demands to make the deal work. For their part, Barcelona have not turned him down, either, though they have not made a definitive move.
The blaugrana still dream of signing Julián Alvarez from Atlético de Madrid, and have other options such as Eli Junior Kroupi (AFC Bournemouth) in mind, too. Neither option is set in stone, though, and in particular, the chances of landing Alvarez are dwindling.
There’s another factor at play, too: Ferran Torres. If the FIFA World Cup hero leaves, Barcelona may need two strikers, not just one. That would certainly strengthen Vlahović‘s chances of signing.
From the player, reports say that even though he does definitely want to join Barça, his patience is running out. He is hoping to make a decision by the end of next week, and if the Catalans have not made their move by then, he may be joining the Turkish club instead.
