In the most recent Rangers Reacts Survey, we asked folks which of the Rangers’ relievers who have made their major league debut this year you feel most optimistic about going forward.
Lefty reliever Robby Ahlstrom, who was summoned earlier this year and has been turned to regularly by manager Skip Schumaker in key late game situations with lefties due up, was the pick of almost half of respondents.
Peyton Gray, meanwhile, who has been the eighth inning guy for parts of the year and has been leaned
only heavily in a middle relief role, received over a quarter of the vote.
On the national question, only a quarter of fans think that run differential is a good predictor of postseason success.
On the one hand, I think run differential is a better predictor of postseason success than actual win-loss record. On the other hand, postseason success is so unpredictable, I’m not sure what the best predictor would be.
