Psicosis, aka Nicho el Millonario, was in WWE for a little more than a year in the mid-aughts, mostly working with Super Crazy in the unfortunate Mexicools gimmick. He had his most success in the United States wrestling for ECW and WCW in the 1990s, including twice winning WCW’s Cruiserweight title. Nonetheless, Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE footed the bill for the 55-year-old luchador’s recent hip surgery.
Psicosis, aka Nicho el Millonario, is currently under a Legends contract (or
Nostalgia Agreement, as the company calls them) with WWE. That wouldn’t normally cover a major medical procedure though. Psicosis has a lot of history with a luchador with a lot of pull, though.
And Dave Meltzer writes that it was Rey Mysterio who ensured Nick Khan cut a check for his friend:
WWE, through a decision by Nick Khan, paid for Dionicio ‘Nicho’ Castellanos (the original Psicosis) hip replacement. Castellanos is under a merchandise ‘legends’ deal with the company. The price tag was in the $44,000 range. Rey Mysterio spearheaded this. Castellanos was Mysterio’s regular opponent and made him shine in AAA, ECW, WAR and then WCW and he had many of his best career matches with him.
Psicosis found himself in a situation many aging pro wrestlers do, and thank goodness he was taken care of. For those that aren’t, consider supporting the organization that gave Psicosis its 2026 Lucha Libre Award a couple months ago, the Cauliflower Alley Club. That organization’s mission includes providing financial assistance to industry veterans in need.
