The Tennessee Vols baseball team has, as with any year, a challenging schedule in SEC play. But before that, they’ll get to test their mettle against what is expected to be one of the best teams in the country.
Tennessee baseball announced this week that they will be facing the UCLA Bruins at 3:00 pm on February 27 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
The “College Baseball Series” in Arlington will involve a number of teams beyond UCLA. Fellow ACC foes Texas A&M and Mississippi State will be involved, although Tennessee will not face either. Instead, the Vols will play Arizona State on Saturday at 11:00 am and Virginia Tech on Sunday at 10:30 am.
UCLA, who made the College World Series last season, was listed back in July as Baseball America’s preseason #1 team for 2026, noting that “no team in the country brings back more proven firepower than UCLA”. Naturally, we’ve seen #1 teams fall on their faces the next year – hello, Texas A&M last year – but far more often than not, they’re at last an Omaha contender the next season. So, it should be a terrific test for the Vols early in what Tennessee fans hope is another season that ends in Omaha, Nebraska.
Now, if these pesky Tony Vitello MLB managerial rumors would just go away….
