Harry Kane could be on course to win the Ballon d’Or, according to expert football tipster Mark O’Haire, who believes the betting markets are providing a strong indication of how the prestigious individual award will be decided.
O’Haire is confident that the Bayern Munich striker is the man to beat, pointing to his odds on betting exchanges as evidence that Kane has emerged as the leading candidate.
“At this stage, I’d normally be guided by the market when it comes to the Ballon d’Or. Voting has already
closed, which I believe happened at the end of September. Someone, somewhere, will therefore have a good idea of the result,” O’Haire told Grosvenor Sport. “If you look at the betting exchanges, Harry Kane is trading at 4/6 and would therefore represent a valid value bet in my opinion,” O’Haire explained.
The tipster emphasized that his assessment is based on market movements rather than personal preferences over who deserves the award. Kane has reportedly held favorite status for some time, although Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal attracted significant betting interest about a month ago.
However, the momentum appears to have shifted back toward the England captain in recent weeks.
“This isn’t a market where personal opinion about who should win comes into play. It’s about trusting the market, which doesn’t often get this kind of thing wrong,” O’Haire noted. “Kane has been the favourite for a while. There was quite a lot of interest in Lamine Yamal about a month ago, but over the past few weeks, Kane has strengthened in the market again. If the exchanges have him at a short price of around 1.5, I’d be confident that Kane is going to win.
“So, although 4/6 is a short price, backing Kane is currently the best-value option,”
Odds of 4/6 imply a probability of approximately 60% before accounting for the bookmaker’s margin. While betting markets are not a guarantee of the final result, the pricing suggests considerable confidence in Kane’s chances.
For Bayern Munich supporters, a Ballon d’Or triumph would represent another major milestone in Kane’s remarkable career. The striker has established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in world football, and winning the sport’s most prestigious individual honor would further cement his legacy.
Of course, market movements are not confirmation of the outcome, and the betting picture alone cannot establish who will ultimately receive the award. Nevertheless, O’Haire believes the current odds make Kane the standout candidate.
