According to Thursday’s NFL Transactions Report, the Kansas City Chiefs have added another receiver to their practice squad.
Bub Means, a fifth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in the 2024 NFL Draft, was listed as a practice-squad transaction for the Chiefs a day after he tried out for a spot. He was one of nine players Kansas City hosted for tryouts on Wednesday. The Chiefs also signed wide receiver Jacob De Jesus, who spent time with the team this offseason.
Means has not played in a regular-season
game since his rookie year in New Orleans in 2024, when he appeared in seven games and produced 118 yards and seven first downs over nine receptions. All of his production came in a three-game stretch, Weeks 6-8 of that rookie campaign. He spent 68% of his snaps as an outside receiver during that period with an average depth of target of 12 yards.
Means was cut after the preseason this year, then spent time on the Cleveland Browns‘ practice squad this season.
Before he was a fifth-round selection out of the University of Pittsburgh, Means racked up 1,552 yards and 10 touchdowns over two seasons at Pitt and one prior at Louisiana Tech. Means was originally a three-star high school recruit who enrolled at the University of Tennessee.
He joins Justin Watson and Jacob De Jesus to form a trio of practice-squad receivers for the Chiefs to call up; Andrew Armstrong was signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad a couple of weeks ago.
