On Saturday morning, I had some free time, and I said to myself, hey, let’s put together a preview publishing schedule for Marquette lacrosse. It’s been a minute since Meredith Black announced her team’s
2026 slate, so I can at least start putting together a framework for timing even though there’s been no press release from Jake Richard for his team, right?
And so, I clicked on the Marquette men’s lacrosse schedule icon on GoMarquette.com just to get an idea of when the Golden Eagles started their season last year to try to make some kind of plans, and lo and behold, there’s a 2026 schedule up. No press release for it yet, so I have no idea when someone hit publish on that or even if it’s complete. There is 13 games on it, which does seem to be the right number, although there’s no start times for any of the games yet. I don’t think that’s a reason to not announce your schedule yet, but telling people when to show up at Valley Fields to watch lacrosse is a pretty solid idea, too.
Marquette will get warmed up for the season with a January 24th exhibition play date with both Navy and Virginia. The schedule says that our old friend Joe Amplo will be the host for that, as the location is listed as Annapolis for both exhibitions. After that, the season gets started on Saturday, February 7th, when Michigan comes to Milwaukee. These two teams have played every year between 2018 and 2025 minus a COVID protocol miss in 2021, and the Wolverines lead the series 5-2 including a 14-1 victory last season.
If that sounds like a tough start to the year, it gets tougher one week later when Notre Dame pays a visit. Marquette is 0-13 all time against Notre Dame, as the two midwestern programs have met every season of MU’s existence except the canceled 2020 season, and they even fit in an NCAA tournament game in 2017. The Irish won 22-9 last year.
After that, it’s time for the first road games of the year. The third Saturday of the season means a visit to Cleveland State, and on the way back to Milwaukee, Marquette will stop by Detroit Mercy for a Monday game. Marquette is 3-1 all time against CSU after winning 15-7 last year to run their streak to three straight against the Vikings. The Golden Eagles have won five straight against the Titans to move the all-time record in the series to 11-1, including a 16-6 contest last spring. February wraps up with a not-quite home game, as MU will head to Long Island to play Harvard. Harvard’s schedule says that the game will be at Chaminade High School, which happens to be the alma mater of Harvard head coach Gerry Byrne. MU’s first ever game against the Crimson was last season, with Harvard getting a 20-16 victory at home.
March starts off with a Saturday/Wednesday set at home before the Golden Eagles take the next nine days off. March 7th brings Mercer to the Valley for the first meeting between these two teams since 2015 when MU moved the all time series record to 2-0. Four days later, they renew the rivalry with Utah, as the two teams have played each of the past four seasons. The Utes won the first three, but Marquette came out ahead, 12-11, in overtime last season. After that nine day break, the Golden Eagles start a run of a game every weekend til the regular season wraps up. The first one is the final non-conference game of the year, and that comes by way of a road trip against Bellarmine. That all-time series is 6-5 in Marquette’s favor as the Golden Eagles won 19-11 last year to snap a two game BU advantage.
Big East play starts one week later at home with a game against Providence. Marquette gets the short end of the five-game stick this season with two home games and three on the road. Villanova is the other home game on April 18, and then the regular season ends with exactly what you think it does: Denver, in this case, a Friday game out in the Rocky Mountains.
Here’s the full 2026 Marquette men’s lacrosse schedule, although we don’t have start times for anything yet.
