Good morning everyone!
The Wild Card Round wraps up today with three winner-take-all matchups. Three teams, which have been together since March working together for this very moment, will see their seasons
end in disappointment and begin the long winter offseason earlier than they’d hoped. And for three other teams, they’ll move on to the next round to face an even tougher team that’s had some rest and is able to set their rotation as they see fit.
For the fans of these teams facing elimination today, they’ll be stressing out all morning and afternoon, dreading the idea of experiencing a heartbreaking loss. From an objective point of view though, today is looking like it’s going to be quite the day of playoff baseball, in fact a historic day of playoff baseball:
While the fans of these squads will be stressing it’s going to be a great day of October baseball for the rest of us with stakes as high as they can be for these squads. We don’t have to worry about the disappointment of playoff elimination because we’ve already begun our winter! We just get to sit back and watch other teams duke it out. Three out of the four series ended up going the full three games, with only the Dodgers dispatching the Reds in two games. That’s set up a massive series up next over in the National League:
First up we’ll have the Tigers and Guardians wrapping up their series at noon. Whoever wins this series will have a matchup with the Seattle Mariners in the next round. Next we’ll get to see the Padres and Cubs go at it for the right to advance to the next round to face the #1 seed Milwaukee Brewers. And wrapping up the awesome day of playoff baseball, we’ll see yet another historic postseason battle between the Red Sox and Yankees, two rivals who have experienced both victories and defeats against one another. Whoever wins will get the right to face their division rival the Toronto Blue Jays, the American League’s #1 seed.
Who will go home, and who will advance to the Division Round? Comment with your guesses below! And enjoy the playoff baseball today everyone!
