After a dissapointing week one performance against the Giants, Dallas rebounded with a 37-20 victory over the Commanders. Dak Prescott in particular looked stellar, completing 84% of his passes on the road to setting the Cowboys franchise TD record. CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson both caught two touchdowns, while Brandon Aubrey nailed a 60-yard field goal.
On defense, Jaishawn Barham looked good wearing the green dot, and injuries in the secondary made the struggles against the pass more understandable.

Dallas’ offense looked nearly unstoppable, and yet even with a backup quarterback, the defense struggled to create negative plays and get off the field on third down.
The Cowboys’ offense scored on 7 out of their 8 possessions of the game. Read that again, the offense did what it needed to do regardless of who was in the game for the Commanders.
Dak Prescott finished the day 26/31, 279 yards, 4 touchdowns and zero turnovers.
The defense is still the issue.

It’s hard to overstate just how impressive Dak Prescott looked in this game. Just one week after the same defense held Jalen Hurts to a 56% completion percentage, Dak Prescott finished 26 of 31 (84%).
Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes to break Tony Romo’s career franchise record, and the Dallas Cowboys beat Washington 37-20 on Sunday after the Commanders’ Jayden Daniels went down with another gruesome-looking dislocated left elbow.
Prescott’s record-breaking 249th TD pass was his second TD of the game to CeeDee Lamb, who had 153 yards receiving. Tight end Jake Ferguson had the other two scoring catches.

It was a game of runs. Dallas got up early as they were able to get their offense going right away.
After stumbling out of the gate in last week’s season opener, Prescott and the offense came out firing on all cylinders in this one, jumping out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead.
The team’s first series saw the quarterback complete five of six passes for 53 yards and add another 11 on a scramble to account for 64 of the 66 yards during the 10-play drive.

Week 1 was very weird. The offense started off slowly, partly due to Brian Schottenheimer coaching scared. And by the time it found a rhythm, the defense couldn’t get off the field.

There were more signs of life on the defensive side of the ball than last week. Barham and the defensive line looked better, and without three key secondary players, the struggles against the pass are more understandable.
Washington still found success at different points, particularly with Daniels using his legs, but the Cowboys looked much more organized than they did against the Giants in Week 1.
