The Cleveland Browns have a huge opportunity today when they face the New York Jets.
Both teams come into the game heading in opposite directions, as the Browns have won three in a row while the Jets are riding a three-game losing streak.
Win today, and the Browns will be guaranteed to be in first place in the AFC North when they take the field next week at home against the Baltimore Ravens.
They have to get past the Jets first, of course, and this has the makings of a trap game if the Browns get too
full of themselves and overlook the Jets.
Cleveland safety Grant Delpit was asked about that possibility on Friday and correctly responded that the Browns are in no position to overlook any opponent given the nature of their close victories and penalty issues.
That is the right answer and the right mindset for a team that is slowly learning how to win games, rather than finding ways to lose them.
Will it carry over to the field this afternoon? That is entirely up to the Browns. If they are serious about making a statement this year, this is a game that they have to win.
We’ll all know in a few hours how things turn out. For now, let’s kick off the day with the latest edition of the Sunday Dawg Chow.
