Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has had some words of praise for team-mate Marcus Rashford as he heads towards the end of his loan deal at the Camp Nou.
Rashford has made an impact for Hansi Flick’s side this season, scoring 13 times and bagging 11 assists in all competitions for the Catalans.
De Jong has highlighted how Rashford is helping Barcelona this season and spoke about his strengths.
“A really good guy. Open and kind and he’s also having a big impact for us on the pitch,” he told the Guardian.
“With his speed and depth, he really adds a lot to our game. And by doing so, he also forces the opponent’s defence to drop back a bit, which creates more space for us in the middle.”
The Dutchman also says the future is very bright for Barca due to the amount of young players in and around the first team.
“We have a very open team, quite young, so there’s a lot of energy,” he says. “We have a lot of potential. It’s about making sure we unlock that.”
As for Rashford, we’ll have to wait and see whether he stays on at Barcelona. The Catalans don’t want to pay his buy option but are thought to be trying to secure a second loan.
