What is the story about?
The
Texas A&M offense was yet again historically bad, but heavens forbid A&M fans be upset about it online. Here’s some stats that illustrate the ineptitude (take your pick, honestly).
Salient Cesspool Stats
- 0: Reason for the head coach to attack the fanbase, even a small subset of it. Especially when what you view as a vocal minority may actually be the fans who care/support the team the most. Just a wildly unforced error that even further sours fans regarding the current state of this team.
- 0: Plays of 20+ yards from the A&M offense. A team that has struggled to find explosive plays simply didn’t find any at all against a stout Missouri defense.
- 1.3: Yards per rush for A&M. Missouri’s run defense is one of the best in the country, so this isn’t all that shocking, but it’s hard to do anything offensively when the run game just doesn’t work (and the pass game isn’t any better).
- 2-5: A&M’s record in their last seven games against Power 4 conference opponents. That’s, uh, not good.
- 8: Total completions to Aggie wide receivers, and no single one had more than two. This is quite simply the worst A&M passing game in more than two decades, and I don’t think it’s even particularly close.
- 12: Straight quarters without scoring a touchdown against at ranked opponent. Inexcusable.
- $51: Current cheapest ticket on SeatGeek for Texas A&M vs. The Citadel next Saturday. If you want to watch an A&M for cheap, watch as those prices plummet in the coming days.
- 51.5%: Marcel Reed’s completion percentage, and honestly it took some garbage time completions to get it above 50%. Marcel hasn’t looked particularly good all season, but today he looked completely lost. It’s honestly incredible he’s still getting snaps.
- 52.7: Yards per punt by A&M’s Tyler White. Honestly at this point the best thing we can root for may be for White and K David Olano (who hit another 50-yarder in this game) to win the Ray Guy/Lou Groza awards.
- 222: Rushing yards for Missouri RB Jamal Roberts. That’s a massive number, but it’s mostly indicative of a defense who played well before getting completely gassed. There’s only so much they can do when the offense can’t put together anything even remotely resembling a sustained drive.
