With Patrick Mahomes resetting thw quarterback market (again), the spotlight returns to an awkward place for the Carolina Panthers: Should they pay Bryce Young?
Mahomes and Dak Prescott are the only two quarterbacks in the NFL with contracts averaging more than $60M per year. They are followed by Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, Matt Stafford, Jared Goff, Brock Purdy, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts. Those twelve quarterbacks all have contracts that exceed $50M
in average annual value.
Young obviously has not lived up to being considered one of the top twelve quarterbacks in the NFL, despite his initial draft billing. He has one to two years left to force the Panthers to make a decision on his future. The question of the day is, if he earns an extension, what should his contract be worth?
