On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs
held the final “training-camp-style” practice of the 2026 preseason and were missing key players.Chiefs Kingdom is getting familiar with the uneasiness of reading that left tackle Josh Simmons is missing practice due to a back injury, but standout rookie defensive end R Mason Thomas has now been added to the list of potential worries with 11 days until Week 1.
In addition to the report of a hamstring injury by
friend of the site Pete Sweeney, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com shared with his X followers that Thomas was observed “wearing a compression sleeve on his right leg.”
This is the first time Thomas has popped up on the injury report since training camp began during the last week of July. During his time at the University of Oklahoma, Thomas missed multiple games due to ankle and quad injuries in three of his four years there.
With three days off until the Chiefs reconvene on the practice field on Monday, the last session before game-week practices begin, it will be important to see if Thomas’ hamstring issue keeps him sidelined or if he’s able to participate, whether it be at a full or limited capacity.
