Cody Rhodes failed to pull the trigger when the time came to hit Randy Orton with a patented punt at Sunday Night’s Main Event just a number of days ago in Atlanta. His uncertainty, that hesitation, ultimately cost him the match. Orton, of course, had no such qualms with doing what needed to be done to secure the victory. He used a low blow to set up an RKO, and the pinfall came just after.
He’s a killer, as he put it.
Rhodes is not.
That’s what The Viper said in his follow up promo on this week’s episode
of Friday Night SmackDown in Mexico City. Cody is many things, like a good husband, father, friend, and person. But he is not a killer, and that’s why he lost.
The fans in Mexico City, it’s worth pointing out, booed Rhodes and cheered Orton. I’m not entirely sure what that says about the direction WWE may or may not be planning to go in regards to a heel turn for QB1. It certainly feels like the right time to this writer.
As for what’s next for Orton, he made that clear here:
Orton is eager to win his 15th world championship, so he’ll be awaiting the winner of the CM Punk vs. Sami Zayn WWE title match scheduled for later on this evening.
Stay tuned.
