Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia has played down injury fears after playing a starring role against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
Garcia had to be replaced against Newcastle and looked set to go off again at Camp Nou. However, he stayed on and played a crucial role in the 1-0 win.
The goalkeeper was asked about his fitness after the game and insisted all is well.
“We knew it was important to win these three games. Today we struggled a bit more than we would have liked. But the important thing is that we got
the three points,” he said.
“They’re a great team with a great coach. They prepare for matches very well and know how to hurt us. It wasn’t our best game, but the important thing is that we won.”
“We were clear that we had to win. The rest is out of our hands.
“Very happy about the call-up. I’m really looking forward to it, very excited, and eager to be with my new teammates. I’m fine. I was a little overworked, but nothing serious.”
Garcia will now join up with the Spain squad for international friendlies against Serbia and Egypt.
