Kim Min-jae’s Bayern Munich tenure appears to be heading to its end. The stalwart center-back arrived as a Serie A defender of the year, settling into an XI that made ballyhooed transfer Matthijs de Ligt
expendable.
But after just two seasons, the Bavarians went and signed Jonathan Tah on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, and now it is Kim who finds himself surplus to requirements. While the Korean international still gets playing time, it is clear that he is second choice under head coach Vincent Kompany.
Cue the transfer rumors — and this one is interesting. From Turkish journalist Murat Zorlu, Kim’s old club in Türkiye could be in line to bid for his services. As captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Fenerbahçe are considering re-signing Kim Min-jae if Bayern decide to let him go [@ZorluMurat]
Kim’s contract runs through 2028, two more seasons after this one if he wants to wind down his contract at Bayern. He is still playing, after all — and a rock-solid option off the bench in the event of an injury to Tah or Dayot Upamecano. Can Fenerbahçe offer enough to Kim, or Bayern, next summer?
