Milan wants Goretzka (Gianluca DiMarzio via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka could end up being a popular figure on the transfer market this summer.
The latest club to show interest in the 30-year-old Germany international is AC Milan:
Milan
will try to sign Leon Goretzka in the summer if he doesn’t extend his contract at FC Bayern. The Italian club has enquired about Goretzka with a view to a free transfer at the end of the season.
Goretzka did well for himself over the weekend against Wolfsburg. Can he continue the hot run of play vs. FC Köln? It certainly would not hurt his status for the summer.
As it stands, many fans are expecting Goretzka to start for Bayern Munich vs. FC Köln on Wednesday.
Paris FC wants Tel (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Former Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel has a potential suitor — Paris FC:
🚨👀 Paris FC working on a loan move for Mathys #Tel. Their main selling point is offering him his preferred position as a striker. The core of his frustration is not only his lack of playing time, but above all the fact that he is rarely used as a number nine.
Tottenham are still blocking every enquiry for now, as they want to keep Tel at the club. His contract runs until 2031.
It would not be the worst idea in the world for Tel, though convincing Tottenham to loan him away might be tough. Tel could not establish himself at Bayern Munich and has found the same difficulties in London. Taking a step back to Paris FC might be a great thing for his development.
Lewy to stay at Barca? (ESPN)
After weeks of speculation about what Robert Lewandowski might do next, he could actually end up staying at FC Barcelona and inking a contract extension:
Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski could stay at the club, according to AS. Yet to sign a new contract at Camp Nou, the 37-year-old is attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and is also on the shortlist of MLS side Chicago Fire. However, the Blaugrana are reportedly yet to make a decision on his future, and it can’t be ruled out that he signs a contract extension to extend his deal beyond the summer, with a meeting set to be held before the end of the season.
Lewandowski, who has 10 goals and two assists in 20 games across all competitions this season, might finally be slowing down. Sure, he could go to MLS and probably rip off a couple of sensational seasons, but the Polish Hitman might be angling to continue to play at the highest level.
Dier to Hammers? (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Eric Dier is fondly remembered by Bayern Munich despite his relatively short stay with the club. Now his play at AS Monaco is reportedly drawing some interest from West Ham:
🚨⚒️ Understand Eric #Dier has been offered to West Ham. The club are considering the option. #WHUFC
At this stage nothing is advanced yet, but it is an interesting opportunity for them after
@ExWHUEmployee
and confirmed. He is still under contract with AS Monaco until 2028.
For as much as we gripe about the 2024 winter transfer window, Dier really was a gem of a find for Christoph Freund.
Klopp denies Real rumors (ServusTV via ESPN UK)
As rumors started to link him to the Real Madrid opening, Jürgen Klopp denied he had any interest:
“I think the rumors have been circulating for some time now. And I know exactly what your question is getting at, but it has nothing to do with me,” Klopp said when asked on the Austrian channel Servus TV if his phone had started ringing after Xabi’s departure, according to quotes translated by EFE. “It has actually rung, but not from Madrid,” the former Liverpool coach said with a laugh, insisting that the news “hasn’t affected him at all.”
Klopp stated that Alonso has shown that he is a very talented coach and that his exit, after only half a year in the position, “is another sign that something isn’t working perfectly there.”
“This shows several things: on the one hand, that we [coaches] no longer have any time, and on the other hand, that the demands at Real Madrid are, logically, enormous,” he said.
Klopp expressed surprise at Alonso’s departure and noted how rumors that something wasn’t working between the coach and the Madrid squad “started relatively early.”
“I think when you arrive after a legend and an incredibly good coach, who had a very specific way of coaching his team — Carlo Ancelotti — if you arrive there and try to implement some new rules, this time it seems it has proven too difficult,” he said.
Juve still wants Chiesa (Tuttosport)
Juventus cannot seem to give up the thought of bringing back Liverpool FC attacker Federico Chiesa:
Liverpool advanced to the FA Cup Round of 32 with a 4-1 victory over English third division side Barnsley at Anfield. The Reds advanced thanks to first-half goals from Szoboszlai and Frimpong , before late goals from Wirtz and Ekitike , the latter coming on for Chiesa in a substitution that surprised the Italian winger. Phillips ‘ goal to make it 2-1 proved futile for the visitors . This was a significant four-goal win for Liverpool , which also sent important transfer signals to Juventus .
Chiesa’s name is at the top of Spalletti’s list of potential Juventus reinforcements in this January transfer window. Federico is reportedly returning to the Bianconeri, and his latest encounter with Slot in the FA Cup match seems to have sealed his fate, an admittedly unfortunate one. Against Barnsley , the Italian winger started, contributed to the Reds’ two-goal lead, and even attempted to make his own mark in the first half. In the 60th minute, however, Slot decided to call on him during a triple substitution: initially, he seemed to be giving him instructions, then the number 14 appeared on the scoreboard with Ekitike’s introduction. Chiesa was incredulous as he returned to the bench with a bitter smile that revealed the former Juventus player’s thoughts.
