With three losses, it’s almost a guarantee that Illinois won’t be competing in its first CFP in 2025-26.

The two shortest odds come from two of the three teams to defeat Illinois this season:
- Ohio State +220
- Indiana +480
Washington, the Illini’s third loss, is a long shot to make the CFP still and has +40000 odds to win the title in January.
After a convincing bounceback 35-13 victory over Rutgers on Saturday, the Illini are off for the second time in four weeks. The season should end with three more wins: vs. Maryland, at Wisconsin, vs. Northwester.
Back-to-back nine-win seasons would be a first in program history and also cement the program’s second-best four-year stretch ever.
Still a lot to play for this season, even if it’s not a College Football Playoff bid or a national title.
