The Michigan Wolverines have bounced back nicely after losing at USC a few weeks back, as they have now won two games in a row. Last weekend, Michigan went on the road and took down in-state rival Michigan State
to improve to 6-2 overall. Now, wins against Purdue, Northwestern and Maryland would set up a massive showdown against Ohio State with a College Football Playoff potentially spot on the line.
Up first is Purdue at home. The Boilermakers are one of the worst teams in the Big Ten, and Michigan is a big favorite. Let’s make some bold predictions for the game.
Michigan will not allow Purdue to score
The Michigan defense has had some impressive performances this year, but every team has been able to score at least three points. This weekend, the Wolverines will pitch their first shutout of the season. Purdue is better offensively than defensively, but the team has faced its fair share of struggled on both sides of the ball in 2025 under first-year head coach Barry Odom. Michigan has put together a couple strong performances in a row defensively, and another big one is coming.
Michigan will force three turnovers
A big reason why Michigan has been successful defensively is the ability to force turnovers. Even in the two losses against Oklahoma and USC, the Wolverines found a way to force multiple turnovers. Against Purdue, I believe Michigan will force three of them. The Boilermakers are going to have to take some risks if they want to pull off the upset this weekend, and that will lead to some mistakes that the Wolverines will take advantage of.
Michigan will win by 30+ points
Michigan is favored by three touchdowns entering this game, but it’s not even going to be that close. The Boilermakers have a lot of work to do before they are going to be a competitive Big Ten team, and they will suffer another blowout loss this weekend in Ann Arbor. A strong offensive performance mixed with a shutout will lead to a 34-0 Michigan victory.
