Dre Greenlaw’s emotions were running high in the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 4 win over the Denver Broncos. If Greenlaw had a chance to let Denver’s sideline know, he took it.
Whether he was pointing, gesturing, or smack-talking, Greenlaw went out of his way to make it a point to Broncos head coach Sean Payton during the game.
Aaron Wilson reported the NFL fined Greenlaw $11,941 for taunting and cussing at Payton:
Greenlaw, after the game, yelled at Payton: “Hey! You get the f-ck off my field!.”
He told
reporters: “I told him to get the f–k off the field. “That’s it: ‘Get the f–k off the field.'”
Greenlaw said he was upset about being released by and not being called by Payton.
“The disrespect,” Greenlaw said. “He couldn’t be man-to-man and call my phone and say, ‘We’re going to cut you.'”
Payton didn’t add fuel to the fire during his post-game press conference.
“I think the world of him. I love everything about him,” Payton said. “He plays with that emotion and so, all good.”
Greenlaw told reporters after the game he didn’t like “the disrespect” and was upset Payton didn’t call him when the Broncos released him last offseason: “He couldn’t be man to man and call my phone and say, ‘We’re going to cut you.'”
