The Yankees’ season officially ended last week, falling in four games to the Blue Jays in the ALDS. It’s a sharp departure from the World Series appearance they made in 2024, but not many people picked
them to repeat as AL champions after they lost out on Juan Soto in the offseason. As it turned out, they made some smart decisions with their Plan B and formed a solid team that tied for the best record in the AL, but when tasked with going through the AL East gauntlet against teams that they struggled against all season they could only turn their fortunes around once.
Now that they’re on the couch watching with the rest of us, the work begins on looking ahead to 2026. There’s a lot to break down about this year’s team before we get into the changes we could anticipate, and these first few weeks are the perfect time to analyze them. Did the Yankees squander this postseason, or did they play to expectations? How flawed were they in the end, and how much of their fate came down to luck? Did Aaron Boone have more to pull out of them, or did he do well all things considered? If you have questions like this, or anything else on your mind, send ‘em in for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.
Answers will run on Friday afternoon. All questions received by the night of October 16th will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
