After being told he was not in Vincent Kompany’s plans for Bayern Munich this season, the club was trying to find a solution for Sacha Boey during the summer transfer window. They were trying to find a club that would be interested in either buying him, or accepting a loan deal with a buy-on clause, but nothing wound up coming to fruition for the defender after he’d spent the second half of last season on loan with Galatasaray in Turkey.
Ahead of Bayern’s Bundesliga clash at Schalke in Gelsenkirchen,
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund had confirmed that there’s no much less of a chance Boey is offloaded because not many international markets’ transfer windows are still open. It’s now looking more likely that he will have to stay at Bayern for the time being, but Freund has said Boey has remained entirely professional during Bayern’s preseason up through until now, even knowing that he was essentially unwanted.
Per information from Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), Boey joined in with the rest of Bayern’s squad in full team training ahead of the Schalke clash. Prior to joining up with the rest of the team, he had been training individually with a team of Bayern’s trainers as it was unclear what his future had in store and he was not a aprt of the squad for any of Bayern’s opening three matches.
In addition to joining up with full team training, Boey was also seen at Säbener Straße in a full home kit ahead of the club taking their official team photo for the 2026/27 season. This is yet another indicator that it’s now looking increasingly likely that the defender will be staying at Bayern, at the very least until the winter transfer window.
During the summer window, their was interest in Boey from Turkey and even Fulham explored the possibility of a last stitch move on deadline day, but nothing materialized. The Frenchmen is now in a tough spot where he knows he won’t be getting a lot of minutes barring any sort of injury catastrophe plaguing Bayern’s backline, but he’s at least remained professional with Bayern and has caused any unecessary distractions within the dressing room.
