Joan Cancelo had some harsh words for Al-Hilal after winning La Liga for Barcelona on Sunday night thanks to a 2-0 victory in El Clasico.
The Portugal international moved on loan to Barcelona in the winter transfer window and explained after the game some of the problems he had experienced at the Saudi Pro League club.
“At Al Hilal, unfortunately, I had people who didn’t tell me the truth. They told me they were going to register me on the Saudi league list, and then, when the day came, they didn’t,”
he told reporters.
“And then I’m always the one with the bad personality… But at least I have my word, I don’t change it for anything, I’ve always been the same. I’m direct. I don’t hold grudges against anyone. Today I’m here, I’m very happy, I won a title with Barcelona , which is, for me, the best club in the world.”
Cancelo was also asked about his future and admits he’s not sure what will happen next.
“Barça is a very special club for me, even before coming here I was a Barça fan. Winning a league with this club is very special. Let’s see what happens, because, as you know, I’m on loan from Al Hilal,” he added.
“I know what I want, I can’t say it publicly. We’ll see what happens.”
Barcelona are reportedly hoping to keep hold of Cancelo but will need to find an agreement with Al-Hilal as the defender still has a year left on his contract.
