Former New Orleans Saints WR Joe Horn has been selected for induction into the 2026 class of the Louisiana Hall of Fame.
Born in New Haven, CT, Horn attended Douglas Byrd High School in Fayetteville, NC, where he stood playing at quarterback, tailback, wide receiver, and punter. He went on to play two years at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, MS as well as 2 years in the CFL briefly with the Baltimore Stallions, Shreveport Pirates and the Memphis Mad Dogs.
Horn began his NFL career as a member
of the Kansas City Chiefs, when he was selected in the fifth round (135th overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft. He spent 4 seasons with the Chiefs before signing with the Saints as an unrestricted free agent in 2000.
In his first season in New Orleans, Horn ranked in the top ten in receptions (7th), yards (8th) and touchdowns (9th), helping the Saints win the NFC South and a trip to the postseason.
During his 7 seasons with the Saints, Horn was selected to the Pro-Bowl 4 times (2000, 2001, 2002, and 2004). He scored receiving touchdowns (50) and compiled the second-most receptions (523) and receiving yards (7,622) in franchise history, nearly breaking Eric Martin’s career club records in receptions and receiving yards, coming up just 9 catches and 232 yards short.
In May 2010, his first year of eligibility, Horn was induction into the Saints Hall of Fame. On June 24, 2010, the Saints signed Horn to a one-day contract, officially retiring from professional football as a member of the Saints.
Saints General Manger Mickey Loomis then said of Horn “Joe was one of our club’s best free agent signings ever. I enjoyed seeing him develop into one of the NFL’s top receivers as a Saint. He is certainly one of the top all-time Saints. Given his relationships and the impact that he had both within the organization and in our community, it is only appropriate that he retire a Saint.”
The 2026 Louisiana HOF induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Natchitoches Events Center. Tickets are available for purchase at 2026 LSHOF Induction | Powered By GiveSmart
