This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured a Penta vs. Rusev match that was supposed to give us a new number one contender to Dominik Mysterio’s Intercontinental championship. I say “supposed to” because, of course, El Grande Americano and his two lackeys showed up to crash the party, leading to a no contest.
Later in the evening, Mysterio was shown backstage seemingly celebrating with the trio, as though they had made a deal beforehand to achieve just this result. It didn’t end well for the champ,
however, seeing as General Manager Adam Pearce arrived in time to see this and quickly revealed that he booked an Intercontinental championship match for Saturday Night’s Main Event on Nov. 1 in Salt Lake City, Utah anyway: Mysterio will now defend against both Penta and Rusev in a triple threat match.
Whoops!
Here’s the updated card:
- World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk vs. Jey Uso
- WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
- Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
- Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Penta vs. Rusev
