Barcelona prospect Oscar Gistau has suffered a major injury setback after being forced to go under the knife after picking up a knee injury.
The highly-rated 17-year-old has now undergone knee surgery to correct the problem and is set to be sidelined for around three months.
Barcelona offered an update on the teenager after his operation.
“Barça Atlètic player Òscar Gistau underwent successful surgery for a partial tear of the external meniscus in his left knee,” read a club statement.
“The surgery was
performed at Barcelona Hospital and was performed by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, under the supervision of the Club’s Medical Services. The expected recovery time is between 10 and 12 weeks.”
Gistau has previously been tipped to make the jump into the first team at some point in the future and is certainly one to watch. However, for now he’ll be focused on his recovery and getting back to action as soon as he can.
Get well soon, Oscar Gistau!
