The Washington Commanders announced several roster moves earlier tonight, placing LB Leo Chenal on injured reserve after having successful neck surgery following the Seahawks game. The team also swapped out practice squad OLBs and officially brought RB Austin Ekeler back to the 53-man roster.
This isn’t a typical week for Washington. They are “hosting” the Indianapolis Colts in London on Sunday morning and flying across the pond Tuesday night. That means decisions need to be made on injured players.
Jayden Daniels (elbow), Frankie Luvu (groin), and Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) are all flying tonight according to head coach Dan Quinn. Ben Standig also reported that Percy Butler was in the concussion protocol following Sunday’s win, but will travel with the team.
The Commanders announced later that RG Sam Cosmi (concussion/throat) and S Nick Cross (illness/internal injury) will make the trip, and have been ruled out this week. Cosmi ended last season on IR due to a concussion and throat injury from a nasty friendly-fire hit from rookie RB Kaytron Allen at the end of the Cowboys game.
Nick Cross played the entire game against Dallas, but was hispitalized after for what was initially described as an internal injury. The Commanders listed it as an illness on last week’s injury reports, but we haven’t had a clear update on hos prognosis since the initial reports.
The Washington Commanders took flight to London tonight, and will begin their practice week tomorrow.
