Barcelona and Ajax are continuing talks about a possible loan deal for goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen for the 2026-27 season.
Former Girona boss Michel has just taken charge of the Eredivisie giants and is keen for a reunion with the goalkeeper in Amsterdam.
Yet negotiations between the clubs have already revealed issues with regards Ter Stegen’s salary, according to Marca. The Dutch club can’t afford to pay his whole salary and only want to pay around 10% and 15% of his wages.
Barcelona could therefore
end up paying a hefty amount for Ter Stegen to play for another club next season. It’s claimed Barca may have to fork out around €15 million, if the German does go to Ajax on loan.
It’s a similar situation to last season when Ter Stegen moved to Girona on loan in the winter transfer window in search of regular football. However, the goalkeeper promptly picked up an injury and missed the rest of the campaign.
Barcelona fear that Ter Stegen’s salary, age, and hefty price tag mean there may be few takers for his signature this summer, meaning they may have no choice but to accept Ajax’s proposal.
