Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou vs Alabama and the latest on Olympic Sports.
It was previously announced that No. 19 Mizzou Football’s home game against No. 10 Alabama has been set for an 11:00 a.m. CST kick-off for October 11th. On Monday, we learned that the game will be televised on ABC.
It sets up be a much-anticipated game in COMO to close out Missouri’s season opening six-game home stand. A massive opportunity
for Eli Drinkwitz’s squad in hopes of contending for the College Football Playoff.
But with football on the bye week, the biggest news on Monday was Mizzou Gymnastics’ addition of five-star Kendall Morgan. Morgan was the highest rated uncommitted five-star in the 2026 class, and she is dynamic, having won national titles on both Vault and Bars in 2025 with the USA-G developmental program.
A big-time get for Shannon Welker and the staff.
In other news, Mizzou Volleyball (8-5) stayed put at No. 21 in the latest AVCA rankings despite back-to-back losses to top 10 Texas A&M and Texas teams to start SEC play. Dylan Heinrich notes that it’s promising sign.
The Tigers return to action on Friday night vs Arkansas — their first home match since September 9th.

Because there’s not a lot of Mizzou news up top right now (y’know, bye week), I thought it might be nice to check in our boys in the League. We’ll go quickly (this is the commute after all) and give you their Pro Football Focus grade, how many snaps they’ve played and a notable tidbit about their season thus far.
Just a recap of how the former Mizzou players are doing in the NFL.
Hardy currently leads the country with 730 rushing yards and is tied with nine rushing touchdowns.
Just an incredible season that Ahmad Hardy is having thus far. As of right now, it’s worthy of Heisman discussion.
Alumni returned to Columbia once again for homecoming as the Tigers took down UMass in the team’s last non-conference game of the season. Here are the photos of the week: homecoming edition!
Some great Homecoming photos by Hannah Henderson from Mizzou’s win over UMass.
It’s not a murderers row, but South Dakota should be well schooled and be able to score points. Where they struggle is on defense.
Read up on the South Dakota Coyotes, who could be a solid team in the Summit League.
- From Karen Steger: Stars Align as 2026 5-star Kendall Morgan Commits to The Zou (disregard the typo in her tweet. someone needs an editor….)
Kendall is a:
- 2x Nationals Qualifier
- ’25 Nastia Liukin Cup Qualifier: Video links here— Vault | Beam | Bars | Floor
- ’25 VT (9.825) &UB (9.85) National Champ, 5th FX (9.775), 9th All-Around (Senior A)
- ’25 FL State & Region 8 AA Champ— 1st BB (9.925) | 1st Vault (9.90)
Kendall Morgan is a statement addition for the Mizzou Gymnastics program.
Since committing to Mizzou, Harris has been nothing short of dominant. Helping St. Louis University High (SLUH) to a 5-0 record to start the season against some top-notch Missouri competition.
It’s always good when Mizzou can recruit high-level talent from the St. Louis area, and SLUH’s Keenan Harris might be the next in line.
