It’s no secret that Texas A&M’s 2025 season did not go to plan. After 2024 saw the Aggies reach the National Championship, expectations for Texas A&M were sky high in 2o25 even with the departure of Jim Schlossnagle. Michael Earley took over with a talented roster that entered the season ranked No. 1, but the Aggies had what can only be categorized as a disastrous season, finishing 30-26 (11-19 in SEC play) and missing out on the NCAA Tournament entirely for just the second time in the last 20 seasons.
The Aggies lost eight players to the MLB Draft off of last year’s roster, including first-rounder Jace LaViolette and second-rounder Justin Lamkin. But they also bring back a lot of talent, including players that missed all or most of the 2025 campaign like OF Caden Sorrell, 3B Gavin Grahovac and SP Shane Sdao, and made some significant transfer portal additions to the lineup like Baylor’s Wesley Jordan and Maryland’s Chris Haciopan. So there are reasons to hope this team can rebound back into contender status. But as with as badly as last season went, Michael Earley does likely enter the season on the hot seat. If they can’t show signs of vast improvement in 2026, we may see a new man on the dugout steps in 2027.
Texas A&M will hope to begin the season on a high note with a season-opening weekend series against Tennessee Tech. The Golden Eagles finished last season 37-20, including an 18-9 record in the Ohio Valley Conference.
