What is the story about?

Joey Loperfido is finally back with the Houston Astros.

The Astros today recalled Loperfido from Triple-A to replace OF Taylor Trammell, who was placed on the paternity list.

Loperfido was off to a solid start this season, batting .276 before straining his right quad running to first base on April 17, landing on the IL. Upon returning June 9, Loperfido struggled through sporadic playing time until he was optioned to Triple-A

on July 4.

Loperfido hit well for Sugar Land, batting .289 with a .375 OBP and .766 OPS. He has 3 HR, 14 doubles, 29 RBI, 36 runs scored and 7 stolen bases in 228 AB for the Space Cowboys this season.

Trammell also started the season hot. After working on his swing in the off-season, Trammell started the season on fire. He was hitting .345 when he was injured on a play at third base on April 20. When he returned May 26, he seemed like he was able to pick up mostly where he left off, as he collected hits in his first 5 games off the IL.

Unfortunately for him, he has since reverted to his old struggles, and his overall numbers have reverted back in line with his career norms. He is currently hitting .204 with a .292 OBP and .645 OPS for the Astros this season.
