To say that the Green Bay Packers’ Week 1 performance was a disappointment would be an enormous understatement. The team’s collapse in the second half brought back memories of several games at the end of the 2025 season as well as others from earlier in Matt LaFleur’s tenure as head coach, even as it happened in a different way from those
other letdowns.
It wasn’t the defense getting gassed and giving up long drive after long drive, and it wasn’t just passive decisions by LaFleur in game management or playcalling. This collapse was due in large part to an organizational failure to prepare the offensive line for an aggressive defense that everyone knew was going to bring the blitz.
