The Carolina Panthers front office is busy throughout the season with transactions, roster moves, and injury updates. Here’s what’s happening at Mint Street this week.
Injuries
Finally, some good news on the injury front!
Through their 2-2 start this year the Panthers have distinguished themselves as the most injured team in the NFL and it’s impressive Carolina is playing .500 ball.
Young stud wide receiver Jalen Coker is back after missing the Panthers last game. Running back Trevor Etienne has yet to make
his 2026 debut and he is also listed as questionable after fully participating this week in practice.
The biggest impact could be on the offensive line. Stalwart right tackle Taylor Moton has yet to play in 2026 due to blood clots and is listed as questionable after being a full participant in this week’s practices. Veteran guard Damien Lewis missed Carolina’s last game and is listed as questionable for Sunday but was a full participant in Friday’s practice.
Also hoping to make his 2026 debut is veteran defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton who is now questionable with a neck injury.
The Panthers bye last week gave other guys who have been dinged up to get some rest, including outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips and tight ends Tommy Tremble and Darren Waller.
Right tackle Monroe Freeling is doubtful while running back AJ Dillon is out for Sunday.
Transactions
Signed DT Keith Cooper to the practice squad
Cooper was a 2025 undrafted free agent who was signed by the Cleveland Browns and appeared in one game as a rookie with no stats. Earlier this year he joined the Miami Dolphins and has played in three games in 2026 with one tackle. Cooper played 29 defensive snaps and 16 on special teams for the Dolphins before he was released and signed this week by the Panthers.
Released OLB Cam Gill from the practice squad
Gill has been in and out of Carolina going back to 2024. Between 2020 and 2023 he appeared in 40 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with 29 tackles and 2.5 sacks. In 2024 he came to Carolina and played in 10 games for the Panthers, registering a solid 22 tackles. That year he played 221 defensive snaps for the Panthers and 172 on special teams. He didn’t play in the NFL last year and has bounced around Carolina’s practice squad in 2026 without yet taking the field.
Released DT Anthony Goodlow from the practice squad
Goodlow was originally signed to the Panthers practice squad on September 1, 2026 and had managed to survive up to this point without getting waived then re-signed. But, here we are. The 26-year-old undrafted player spent most of 2024 on the Cardinals practice squad without playing in a game. Last year he had three tackles in three games for Arizona before coming to Carolina this year. He’s now once again on the move.
