It’s an in-state battle as the Titans of Detroit Mercy head up to East Lansing for a Friday night tilt against our 4-0 Spartans. It has been a rough start to the season for UDM. They have one win against some
school named Cleary (I have no idea where that is), but the Titans have lost their four games against schools I can find on a map – Illinois-Chicago, Notre Dame, Toledo, and Eastern Michigan. 3 of those 4 losses were by double digits.
We will see a familiar face on the UDM sideline as former Izzo assistant Mark Montgomery is now the head coach of the Titans.
Last year, in Montgomery’s first season at UDM, they finished 8-24 after some injuries interfered with a promising 5-5 start. The names to know for the Titans offensively are Orlando Lovejoy, TJ Nadeau, and Ayden Carter. All three are averaging double figures so far this year.
Interestingly, despite the sizeable losses they have had this year, Mercy only has a rebounding deficit of 0.8 boards per game. I think we all can expect that to look very different tonight.
The game begins at 6:30 PM ET and will broadcast on BTN.
Game thread time! Y’all know what to do!
