Two years ago, Aleksandar Pavlović had just enjoyed his breakout into Bayern Munich’s first team and was rewarded by Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann with his first senior men’s national team call-up.
But following a bout of tonsillitis, he was forced to miss his would-be Germany debut that March. Those health issues would crop up again in June and force him out of the EURO 2024 squad at the eleventh hour. It’s a miss that still stings as Pavlović sets his sights on this summer’s 2026 Men’s World
Cup.
“I really hope I get called up. Missing out on the Euros was just so bitter, I’m not going to hide that,” Pavlović expressed in comments captured by @iMiaSanMia. “Playing in a World Cup now is my dream. I’m already looking forward to this tournament this summer.”
As for his ambitions? “The goal is to win! That’s obvious,” Pavlović added. “Ideally, I’d like to win both [the Champions League with FC Bayern as well]. We have a good chance in every tournament.”
