The Texas Longhorns’ bad injury luck continues in 2026, with ESPN’s Pete Thamel reporting that offensive tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
He was carted off
the field in the first quarter after going down and favoring his left knee. He returned to the sidelines on crutches during the game, and after the game, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said his injury didn’t “look very good.” Andre Cojoe came in relief for Texas following Goosby’s injury and struggled in pass protection, including losing a one-on-one matchup that resulted in the strip-sack touchdown to open up the comeback. Texas will either need the career backup to level up quickly or find other answers in Kyle Flood’s group.
Goosby was a key piece of Texas’s hopes for success this year, a potential first-round draft pick returning to anchor the offense. The fourth-year player was receiving first-round buzz in the NFL Draft process a year ago, but made the decision to return to Texas for another year of development and a run back at the College Football Playoff. He is one of at least two potential first-rounders to miss significant time, just a week after Colin Simmons suffered a knee injury that will sideline him for multiple weeks, as we still await news on Cam Coleman’s status after his shoulder injury.
Texas will need to find answers sooner rather than later, with the losses to Oklahoma and Florida taking up all of their margin for error in a year they were expected to compete for a national championship.
