Welcome to week three of the 2025 College Football Playoff rankings, one that was bound to feel weird no matter what because while the then 16th ranked Georgia Tech did indeed beat Boston College last
Saturday, it was not a win that matched the feeling of being a 9 win team for the first time in a decade. Tech barely got past the now 1-10 Boston College in come from behind fashion 36-34, needing a late Aidan Birr field goal to pull ahead.
But, surprisingly, Georgia Tech stayed #16 this week with Texas dropping 7 spots in the rankings and sitting right behind the Jackets. Miami climbed 2 spots after giving NC State the kind of beating we weren’t able to give them in a 41-7 win.
As of now, Georgia Tech has +186 odds to make the playoff according to FanDuel, the exact same as last week. On it’s face, that does make sense as our situation hasn’t really changed compared to last week. Pitt didn’t play a conference game and we held serve against Boston College.
The annoying thing is that the “official” projected bracket lists Miami in the ACC Champion slot because they are the highest ranked ACC team despite currently sitting 6th in the conference standings behind Duke, Pitt, SMU, Virginia, and Georgia Tech. If the season ended today with the conference standings as they are, Georgia Tech would be in the playoff.
