The Milwaukee Bucks’ first major piece of draft capital from the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade comes at No. 13 overall, where the team selected Tennessee forward Nate Ament.
Ament comes to the Bucks after averaging 16.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and 35 appearances for the Volunteers in his lone collegiate season.
“Ament’s slow start was quickly forgotten by the time SEC play rolled around as the 6-10 wing really got things going. His late game heroics salted games away late for Rick Barnes as the slender
slasher forced his way to the rim and drew fouls at a ridiculously high rate. His perimeter shooting came along as well, becoming much more consistent late in the year. An ankle injury derailed his final games as a Volunteer,” Rocky Top Talk contributor Terry Lambert wrote.
“Ament will need to get stronger and more consistent, but there’s quite a bit to work with here.”
Amant came into the last collegiate season as the fourth-ranked player in the high school class of 2025. Only Cameron Boozer, Darryn Peterson, and AJ Dybantsa were ahead of him. All three of those guys were in the top three of this year’s draft class.
Dybantsa went to the Washington Wizards, while Peterson will begin his career with the Utah Jazz. And Boozer slotted in at No. 3 to the Memphis Grizzlies.
