Liverpool FC face a must-win fixture on the road at West Ham United on Sunday, with head coach Arne Slot’s job likely on the line. I can’t believe I’m typing this, but the Hammers are unbeaten in three, winning two before drawing 2-2 with Bournemouth.
Ahead of the key fixture, Liverpool FC have some potential returns on the cards. Alisson Becker missed out on the PSV game due to illness, but he has since trained with the team, so he seems likely to start on Sunday.
Florian Wirtz returned from the international
break with an unspecified problem and missed out on the defeats to Nottingham Forest and PSV Eindhoven. Arne Slot clarified at his press conference that Wirtz will have his final day of rehab and, if that goes well, will train on Saturday and could be involved in the game.
Hugo Ekitike is a doubt for Sunday, having been forced off in the second of the PSV game due to a back issue. Slot stated that it isn’t a big issue, but with the short time between the games, we may see Alexander Isak start instead.
Giovanni Leoni, Jeremie Frimpong, and Conor Bradley remain out with long-term injuries.
