The Duke Chronicle’s player profiles concludes with a look at Caleb Foster.
Duke’s point guard went through a tough sophomore year last season but he hung in there and by the end, he worked his way back
to being a factor for Duke.
As we’ve seen in the exhibition season, Foster has improved a lot as a defender, which is going to help his own case to start at point and obviously the whole team.
From the Chronicle: “Caleb Foster is a combo guard who showcases both strong scoring potential and defensive play. Entering his third season as a Blue Devil…[he] will carry refined decision-making and court vision in his bag as a primary ball-handler who can pass and shoot with ease, despite true handling not being a strong quality. He plays with a strong awareness of the entire floor, especially on drives to the basket… There, Foster can both finish off the glass or stay heads-up and kick the ball back out to a teammate…[H]e has become a lethal catch-and-shoot threat whose range is only increasing.”
He still has work to do, as his late collision with Khamenia showed, but in general, he has emerged from his struggles a much stronger man. He has become a mature, heady player who is going to help this team a lot.
