Bayern Munich has a huge Champions League match against FC Barcelona coming up, but first, it is time to take care of business at home.
After just 21 matchdays, Bayern sits 13 points clear on top of the Frauen-Bundesliga table, and a win on Matchday 22 today, away at Union Berlin, would confirm the title with four games to spare. But the hosts are riding an unbeaten streak and should have confidence going up against big teams after their last match, a 3-3 thriller at VfL Wolfsburg.
Bayern are missing
the usual suspects, but Giulia Gwinn will be a late call as she returns from shoulder injury.
“We’re expecting very agile opponents in Union Berlin, who will make life difficult for us,” said Bayern star Georgia Stanway in pre-match comments captured by FCBayern.com. “They’ve already shown how strong they are several times this season, especially at home. We want to control the ball, patiently open up spaces and break through their presumably deep block — without losing our energy and quality in the process.
“Our goal is clearly in sight and we’re really looking forward to the clash at the Alte Försterei.”
Prediction: Bayern wins the game and the title, 4-1.
It’s Bayern time.
