With the Seattle Seahawks slotted in as the NFC’s number one seed, offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak can now start interviewing for head coaching jobs around the league before the Divisional Round begins.
Earlier in the week it was reported that Kubiak was requested for an interview with the Atlanta Falcons . However, it is not surprising that the Falcons were only the first team added to the list of interviews for Kubiak.
NFL reporter Albert Breer revealed that Kubiak, the son of Super Bowl Champion coach, Gary Kubiak, also has interview requests from the New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals, and Las Vegas Raiders. That means the only teams not planning to interview Kubiak (yet) are the Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, and Baltimore Ravens (who just announced their firing of John Harbaugh).
Kubiak, who has never been a head coach before, will seemingly have a handful of options. Of those teams that are interviewing him, those with a stable quarterback look to be the Giants (Jaxon Dart), and Raiders (first overall pick – perhaps Fernando Mendoza?) The Raiders job would be interesting from a Seahawks lens as well with Pete Carroll, and likely Geno Smith’s departure. The Cardinals would be interesting as well as Kubiak would play Seattle and his brother Klay (the 49ers offensive coordinator) twice a year.
Over the next two weeks, any interview Kubiak conducts will have to be done virtually and not in-person.
