Top Pitching Performance of the Week
Jacob Misiorowski came through with one of his best outings in weeks to secure a sweep against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Over seven innings, Misiorowski surrendered one run while striking out eight batters. He allowed just three hits and two walks, finishing seven innings for the first time in his major league career. He now sports a 5-2 record this season with a 4.09 ERA.
Top Hitting Performance of the Week
It was another stellar week for second baseman Brice
Turang as he led the team with a 1.372 OPS. He had nine total hits across 19 at-bats, registering four runs and four RBIs in the process. With two home runs this past week, it’s also notable that he walked more times (five) than he struck out (four). His .474/.583/.789 slash line shows he hasn’t slowed down since his Player of the Month honors in August.
Injury Notes & Roster Moves
- The first day of the month was a busy one for Milwaukee, with four roster transactions taking place. Most notable of these was the activation of Joey Ortiz from the 10-day injured list, who has gone 2-for-22 since returning to game action.
- Infielder Oliver Dunn was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville, and RHP Craig Yoho was recalled from Triple-A. Yoho has allowed seven earned runs across 8 2/3 innings in the majors this season.
- The final September 1 transaction was the signing of Luis Urías, who was brought back to the team on a minor league deal. Urías spent four seasons with Milwaukee between 2020 and 2023 before being traded at the deadline in 2023. After spending a season with the Mariners, Urías signed with the A’s before this season, where he hit .230/.315/.338 with eight homers, 25 RBIs, and 27 runs across 96 games before being released last week. He’s been assigned to Triple-A Nashville, where he picked up six hits, including a homer, across 15 at-bats this week.
- On Wednesday, Shelby Miller was officially placed on the 60-day injured list after a sprain in his right elbow UCL ruled him out for the season. In the corresponding move, Milwaukee selected the contract of RHP Joel Payamps. Payamps has an 8.38 ERA in the majors this year, but hadn’t played with Milwaukee since late May. In the meantime, he posted a 4.73 ERA at Triple-A.
- RHP Nick Mears was placed on the 15-day injured list on Friday for back tightness, but that move is retroactive to September 2. RHP Carlos Rodriguez was recalled to fill his spot. Rodriguez appeared earlier this season, once back in May, and another time August. He has surrendered seven earned runs across 6 1/3 innings in the majors. His resume in the minors is more promising with a 3.89 ERA over 74 innings.
