There is a new queen in AAA. La Catalina came, she saw, and she conquered Flammer to win the Reina de Reinas Championship at Triplemania 34.
All signs pointed to this being Catalina’s destiny. Flammer had cleared out the division, and Catalina was the big signing from CMLL to arrive on the scene. Heading into the bout, Las Toxicas had issues in the ring with Flammer unintentionally costing La Hiedra in #1 contender bouts. Despite tension between partners, all seemed well heading into Arena CDMX in Mexico
City on Sunday night (Sep. 13, 2026).
When the time came, Hiedra was nowhere to be seen. Her absence had a direct impact on the finish. Flammer was in control to connect on her running dropkick finisher, but the impact knocked Catalina through the ropes. There was no opportunity for a pin. It was then that Flammer waved to the back hoping for Hiedra to come help. Flammer became overwhelmingly distracted staring at the entrance. Catalina recovered, tossed Flammer off the turnbuckles, hit a running hip attack into the ropes, and finished with a Busaiku Knee to win. The new champion ended Flammer’s reign at 1,126 days.
The match was entertaining with intensity to win the title. Despite the feel-good victory, the finish felt manufactured to make it more like Flammer lost rather than Catalina won. Flammer being distracted wasn’t smooth storytelling. She was in control, then she inexplicably lost all focus on her opponent. Frankly, it made Flammer look dumb. The plus side is the tease of drama between Flammer and Hiedra.
It has been a great weekend for Chilean wrestlers. First, Stephanie Vaquer won the WWE Women’s World Championship from Liv Morgan at a house show in Santiago, Chile. Now, Catalina won the Reina de Reinas Championship at AAA’s biggest show of the year in Mexico City. Next up for Catalina will be Roxanne Perez, who won the #1 contender match at Triplemania 34 Night 1. Catalina versus Roxanne will go down at Worlds Collide in Chicago on Saturday, September 26.
