I don’t want to be too negative, but it was nice of the Denver Broncos to host the Larry Fitzgerald Ring of Honor celebration…
Anyways.
The Arizona Cardinals inducted Larry Fitzgerald into their Ring of Honor, and retired his jersey, meaning no one will wear the number 11 again for the Cardinals.
On the field, it wasn’t fun.
The Cardinals gave up two huge plays to the Denver Broncos, a 62-yard Bo Nix touchdown run and a 52-yard R.J. Harvey screen pass for a touchdown, and the Broncos tied their season
high in points, had their second most yardage of the season, and held the Cardinals to only 13 points in a 30-13 win at State Farm Stadium, which more resembled Empower Field at Mile High south.
The Cardinals finally scored a touchdown for the first time in over 100 game minutes, that one went to Trey McBride, just like the last one did in their loss to the Detroit Lions.
Bam Knight averaged nearly seven yards per carry, Trey McBride had 10 receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown, but the Cardinals could not sustain drives, and the final drive was a microcosm of their season, five plays inside the one yard line thanks to Denver penalties, and then a fourth down play after a sack took them back to the five, and no points.
The Cardinals redzone offense was 11-23 coming into the game, and were 1-5 today, making them a disastrous 12-28 on the season.
Just another game where there is a complete failure on all sides of the football, which is disappointing coming off the win in Los Angeles, but more disappointing because of how they played in what should have been a great day celebrating the Cardinals and their legend, Larry Fitzgerald.
